Congratulations to Dr Alderik Blom, Research Fellow at Girton College, who has been awarded a British Academy post-doctoral Fellowship. Dr Blom will hold his Fellowship at the University of Oxford, affiliated to Corpus Christi College, and will be working on a large scale-comparison of early mediaeval vernacular glossing, both Germanic and Celtic. His new project focuses on the Latin Psalter and will assess when, how, and why scribes switched from Latin into the vernacular, and explore to what extent there was an interrelationship or even overlap between the various emerging vernacular glossing traditions.
