ASNC in the news: The Black Book of Carmarthen

Prof Paul Russell and PhD student Myriah Williams presented a lecture at the National Library of Wales on April 1st entitled ‘The Black Book of Carmarthen: Minding the Gaps’ to a sold out audience.  The lecture sought to address some under-studied aspects of one of Wales’s most treasured manuscripts, Peniarth 1, informally known as the Black Book of Carmarthen.  A highlight of the talk was the discussion of the recovery of some text and images that had been erased from the manuscript’s pages in the late sixteenth century.  The story of this recovery has captured international media attention and links to a selection of articles can be found below.
