Irish Life in Cambridge
Cambridge has a vibrant Irish social and cultural life. There are a range of clubs, societies and venues frequented by people interested in Irish language, sport, culture, academic life or who just fancy getting together and meeting other people.
Social Events
Members of the Irish language classes at all levels regularly meet together to converse in Irish and generally socialise. A conversational group will be meeting regularly and all are welcome.
In addition, many of the clubs and societies listed below also organise social events.
Cambridge Clubs and Societies
There are several Irish- and Celtic-related sporting, social and cultural clubs in Cambridge:
- Cambridge University Ceilidh Band - A non-audition university society which performs regularly at various events.
- Cambridge University Gaelic Athletic Club - Hosts teams for Men's and Women's Gaelic Football, Hurling and Camogie.
- Cambridge Parnells Gaelic Football Club - A non-university club that competes in the local Hertfordshire league and championship.
- Cambridge University Strathspey and Reel Club - The University's Scottish country dancing club.
