Research Interests

My PhD research examines the boundaries of human identity (both personal and ontological) in Old Norse-Icelandic literature through narratives of transformation. I am particularly interested in the presentation of objects, limb-loss and use of prosthetics; mechanisms of physical and cognitive change; and the degree to which the body is constitutive and/or communicative of the self in texts composed and transmitted in thirteenth- and fourteenth-century Iceland.
