The Annual ASNC Alumni Reunion Event: 24 September 2022

ASNC alumni are warmly invited to the annual reunion event, held by the Department. This is a chance to catch up in an informal setting and to hear latest news from the Department, scheduled each year to coincide with the University's Alumni Weekend in September. The 2022 reunion will take the form of a hybrid event, with an in-person gathering as well as a chance for those further afield to catch up with others online.

Highlights from Previous Years

2015

There was a short presentation on the Black Book of Carmarthen and its margins. We also launched the published volume edited by Professor Michael Lapidge on the work H.M. Chadwick and the early history of the Department.

2014

There was a short talk on the Department's plans in regards to a sequence of conferences makring the succession of millennial anniversaries of Anglo-Saxon, Norse and Celtic significance in the years 2014-2016.

2013

We invited some of our current graduates along so alumni could hear a little about the research within the Department and see what the next 'ASNC generation' looks like.

2012

Attendees enjoyed a chat over drinks and looked at recent photographs featuring alumni that people had brought along. 'Memories of Old Awake', a video featuring ASNC alumna Dr Emily Lethbridge and her recent work in Iceland was also shown.

2011

This was another successful opportunity for people to catch up with each other and find out 'what's new' in ASNC.

2010

Now fully established on the departmental calendar, the 2010 ASNC Alumni Reunion Event was held on Saturday 25th September, 2010, to coincide with the University's Alumni Weekend.

seem but the twinkling of an eye away!

The 2009 event was held on Saturday 26th September for which the Department held an informal drinks reception and reunion for ASNCs from the early 1980s and 1990s as well as the very recent past. We also had music provided by Shem Jarrold (Pembroke, 2007). Thank you to all of you who were able to make the trip back to Cambridge to join us. We hope to see many of you again in the coming years.

2008

The Department hosted an informal drinks reception to the accompaniment of ASNC-inspired/performed music by Hariet Earis (Trinity, 1998). There was also the chance to see some remarkable photographs of Scandinavia taken by James Appleton (Girton, 2004).

2007

The inaugural ASNC alumni event took place on Saturday 22nd September 2007 in the Department. This was the first time many alumni had had the opportunity to see our new home and enjoy the ambience and the ‘ASNC terrace’.
